Dual License Spa Therapy

AVEDA Institute’s innovative curriculum offers Esthiology and Massage Therapy programs, as well as the first dual-licensing Massage Therapy/Esthiology program in the AVEDA network (Massage Therapy programs available at select locations). Students will learn specialized techniques to balance and renew the skin, body and elemental nature. Hands-on clinical experience includes facials, waxing, makeup application, business development, wellness and retail knowledge; the Massage Therapy programs also incorporate massage techniques for face, scalp and body. Upon graduation, participants will be prepared to take the state licensing examination, opening the door to a future as an esthetician and/or massage therapist. The Spa Therapy program is currently available in Orlando, South Florida, Tallahassee and Tampa Bay.

Program Description

The Dual License Spa Therapy course is a 900-hour program that is taught over a period of 32 weeks. This is a unique program which combines selected AVEDA Esthiology courses with Massage Therapy training. The curriculum includes theory, practice and clinical experience. Using AVEDA products in skin care, makeup, wax techniques, massage and other treatments, the student learns how to provide a complete "AVEDA Spa Experience." Students read assigned texts, take quizzes, mid-term and final exams, and watch demonstrations and practice skills in a lab and clinic setting.

Program Objectives

AVEDA spa services and products require special training in order to use and sell them. Students learn how to use pure flower and plant essences in spa treatments. Graduates who complete this program will be prepared to take the required state examinations to become licensed. Students desiring to be licensed in other states will be advised about requirements in those states. Licensed graduates are eligible to work in salons and spas that offer full service spa treatments, as well as exclusive AVEDA establishments.
